Sorry, I have been searching for a while. I seem to be missing tools. I only used version 2 for a little while. Thought I would give version 3 a try. Fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04.1 via the perfect server how to. I can log into isp config but I don't see an "control panel" tools. Like file uploader, etc. I can create a new site, domain, etc. but how to I upload files? Am I missing somthing?
Subdomains? Also, when I add a domain while logged in as a user, it creates a new .vhost file. When I add a subdomain, no new .vhost is created. What is supposed to happen for a subdomain creation?
Why no reply Not sure what else to ask, or add. Can anyone tell me if this is the wrong area for support of version 3? I know it is beta, I wanted to get it installed before adding sites to my new install. Can anyone direct me to documentation for version3? Does version3 have the same capability as previous versions? Is anyone testing version 3 who can give a screen shot? I only saw one other reference to a screenshot request.... The response was for the OP to run it in a VM..... I guess I will just need to can the whole setup if I can't get any assistance.
The perfect setup howto is not compatible with ISPConfig 3. Please format your server and reinstall it as described in the installation instructions that you find in the ispconfig3 tar.gz. There is no documentation available for ISPConfig 3. Thats the correct behaviour. A subdomain is alias for a vhost. If the subdomain shall get its own vhost, create it as domain. ISPConfig 3 is a different software then ispconfig 2, so its not comparable. Overall ISPConfig 3 has many more functions then ispconfig 2, but this does not have to be the same functions.
Instructions? Thanks for the reply. I just want to verify the instructions don't mention 8.04. From "INSTALL_UBUNTU_8.04.txt" Has anyone tried this on 8.04? I would hate to have to reformat a second time. I will actually be using 8.04.1 for support of my onboard NIC.
Thats a typo in the file. As the filename says, the instructions are for 8.04. Also I recommend that you install the latest version from svn and not the 3.0.0.7.
Anywhere to go for help with Version3? Is this the best place for help with version three? I reformated and installed via the instructions. I installed SVN and am running 3.0.0.8 I do have some added features compared to the previous install. Mostly email, server status, nicer theme, etc. I do not see any kind of file manager, or anyway to add content. It appears there are only barebones configurations. Persmissions, features to add to sites, ssl, cgi, php, etc. What am I missing? This does not seem like a package to actually manage content on webs.
Nothing. Everything is there as it should be. ISPConfig was never a software to manage content in websites, neither ISPConfig 2 nor 3. ISPCOnfig is a webhosting control panel, a hosting control panel is a softwre to create and manage the server configuration for hosting enviroments. If you want to manage the content of a webiste, isnatll a cms system of your choice in the website.
