I've been using this setup for over 18 months, but lately I'm getting huge mail delays. I also have the maildrop filtering enabled. qshape shows mail piling up and not being delivered. I have no idea what to look for, or how to troubleshoot the problem.
Only a couple where users were deleted from /home/vmail/domain/ but missed in the SQL table. It just looks like waves of spam every night that clogs everything. qshape shows a few thousand mails, some up to the 1280 line. All I know how to do is postsuper -d ALL that wipes everything. Then it runs fine until next morning. The machine is hostname.xyz.com and I tried adding the mail.wxy.com to the hosts file to see if it speeds DNS lookups for the main virtual domain wxy.com... Could the delays be from trying to send 550 errors to those fake spam senders? If so, how would you delete all bounced messages from the mail queue?
OMG I found this and installed it last night: How To Block Spam Before It Enters The Server (Postfix) This morning, there were 3 messages in the 5 minute queue!!!!! The mailfilterlog.txt file had barely grown overnight. What a difference. mail.log full of Code: NOQUEUE: reject: blocked using sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org NOQUEUE: reject: Blocked - see http://www.spamcop.net NOQUEUE: reject: blocked using ix.dnsbl.manitu.net You are a genius, man!! Amazing site just full of helpful stuff.
