I setup postfix server to use MySQL with auth login. All users authorise with the server, users do not receive mail on the system. We relay mail for authorized users only to specific domains. Therefor the "FROM" email address is always different in the email. This has worked well. However now I am getting the following error Mar 7 17:37:35 mail postfix/smtpd[20812]: connect from 7-16-2-1.dyn.tf.net[7.16.2.1] Mar 7 17:37:37 mail postfix/smtpd[20812]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from 7-16-2-1.dyn.tf.net[7.16.2.1]: 554 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Relay access denied; from=<[email protected]> to=<[email protected]> proto=ESMTP helo=<localhost> Mar 7 17:37:37 mail postfix/smtpd[20812]: disconnect from 7-16-2-1.dyn.tf.net[7.16.2.1] I have not changed anything on the server for over a year now. I managed to find the problem, it was on the users side. The user had not set outlook to login to the SMTP server. So the 554 error is effectively a false positive. Once the user logged into the system it sent the email. The error is correct. I.E unless you login you will not be able to relay.
