I recently upgraded the ISPCONFIG version on an Ubuntu 14.04 server from 3.0.5p to 3.1. All the FTP users began getting "550 Can't change directory to / Permission denied" errors when trying to access ftp. I finally decided to disable VIRTUALCHROOT in /etc/default/pure-ftpd-common to make it work. Does anyone have any idea why it's failing? /var/log/syslog shows: Code: Jan 5 18:03:06 web pure-ftpd: ([email protected]) [INFO] Can't change directory to /: Permission denied Jan 5 18:03:08 web pure-ftpd: ([email protected]) [INFO] Can't change directory to /: Permission denied Jan 5 18:03:08 web pure-ftpd: ([email protected]) [INFO] Can't change directory to /private: Permission denied Jan 5 18:03:10 web pure-ftpd: ([email protected]) [INFO] Can't change directory to /: Permission denied Jan 5 18:03:11 web pure-ftpd: ([email protected]) [INFO] Can't change directory to /cgi-bin: Permission denied Jan 5 18:03:12 web pure-ftpd: ([email protected]) [INFO] Can't change directory to /: Permission denied
