I have set up vmware on ubuntu server.

Bridged and NAT are working fine.

But the host-only option cannot make an internet connection. i am runing windows server as guest on ubuntu host.

the local area network looks like this for host-only

    IP ADDRESS: 172.16.163.129
    DHCP SERVER 172.16.163.254
    DNS SERVER: 172.16.163.1

    any ideas please?

As far as I know the host only option can never do internet connections, its the purpose of this networking type to be only a connection between the host and the guest without the possibility to connect to external networks. Why dont you use NAT or bridged networking instead?
