I downloaded VMWare Workstation and intend to install it on Ubuntu pc64 v7.10. The VMware install instructions from VMware say that I have to have the real-time clock compiled into the linux kernel. I also need the parallel port option be built and loaded as a kernel module.

I've not seen mention of doing this on any how to install VMware help sources, or forums. My question is how to check Ubuntu to see if these things are already done? If not how do I do it? Since no one seems to mention it, is it necessary.

    Thanks

I *think* these are already enabled in the default Ubuntu kernel.
