At home i'am running a debian server and i was wondering if it's possible to make an image or something else that vmware uses. When i have that "image" i want to use it on my xp machine an use it in vmware. The questions i have are the following: 1. What software do i need to make the image of the server. 2. Does this software run on linux or xp? 3. What software do i need on the xp machine to use that image. 4. Are there any howotos on this subject. King Regards, Rene
I've found this: http://www.virtual-strategy.com/article/articleview/80/1/2/ http://www.vmts.net/article/selfp2v.htm The last link is for converting a Windows system into a virtual machine, however I think the process is similar for Linux. Till says he's done it. He first made an image of the physical system with SystemImager, and then you have to playaround with dd somehow: http://www.vmware.com/community/message.jspa?messageID=168349 http://kevindevin.com/?p=2335
