Hi I followed the howto VMware Server 2.0.2-x On Ubuntu Server 10.04 With VMware Remote Console Plug-in I completed Step Two and now I'm at Step Three. Before proceeding I'm wondering if I could install Chrome on the Ubuntu Server itself. What I want to do: Having my DELL E6500 with an Ubuntu-Server and VMware Server. When logging in having the Remote page to the VMware Server displayed. You could say that I would have a mobile VMware Server. This way I can have Windows 7 x64, Windows 7 x86, Windows XP x86 and Ubuntu-Desktop running on my machine and switch easily between them. Also this way only 420Mb of RAM is used and 3580Mb of RAM is free for my VM's. Is there a way to do this? If not installing VMware ESXi would be allot more interesting and easier. Not that this installation was complicated at all. It's explained as it should be. I'm also going to install Windows 7 x64 with VMware Server to see how much RAM is used. And maybe I'll test it with Ubuntu-Desktop. Now to the point. Is there a way to install Chrome which starts directly when I log in? Having the remote page for the VMware Server can be done in Chrome itself off course. Hopefully somebody is trying to do the same as me. Any help would be thankful.
When googling I found some info about Minimal Ubuntu So I installed xorg and openbox this way I could us the vmware remote console plugin but not browsing to the webpage. As soon as I have found a solution I'll post it. I'm going to retry the installation with Minimal Ubuntu. I don't need Ubuntu Server just for VMware Server.
