I've been trying to find the answer to this for 2 days now, and nobody in the Ubuntu forums can seem to help. I have Ubuntu 8.10 host, and installed VMware Server 2.0 . Everything went fine, I followed this guide:

    http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-install-vmware-server-2-on-ubuntu-8.10

I logged in to the console and created my first vm. I restarted, and now I can't get back into the console. I've seen that several people have had this problem, but there doesn't seem to be a very good answer out there. The closest I've seen is this thread:

    http://forums.opensuse.org/applicat...ve-run-vmware-config-pl-each-time-i-boot.html

But that's for suse, and the suggestion is to run command: /etc/init.d/vmware start ...but I don't have a vmware folder in init.d ... i'm new to Linux and terminal, so please forgive my ignorance and try to walk me through step-by-step if possible. I appreciate any help, I'm beating my head on the wall here.
