    Hello,

I'm planning to install a new "host machine" with VMWare server 2.0 on Ubuntu 8.10.
According to the illustrations seen in the how-to, you're using a 32 bits version of vmware.

Should I better install Ubuntu 8.10 32 bits and VMware 32 bits version on my AMD 64 machine or can I use both 64 bits guest os and vmware version?

Better know before downloading and installing ;) ;) ;;)

    Great thanks for your answer

You can use Ubuntu x86_64 and then install 32-bit and 64-bit guests in VMware Server.

    Thank you Falko.

Now I'm sure I can use 64 bits.

Better choose this option since it allows both 32 & 64 bits guest machine.

Maybe one day I'll have to use a "64 bits only" VM !!

    Have a nice week end.

well, you neeed to enable VT in the bios if you want to use a 64bit host os on vmware 64bit.
