Is it not possible to use the server as both virtual and local or im misunderstanding something? thanks.
The problem is that we've told PAM (in the file /etc/pam.d/vsftpd) to use the MySQL database to authenticate users instead of /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow. So system users cannot authenticate anymore.
