    I dont think that this is anything critical. Just the startup sequence of your avahi daemon.

    The question is, do you really need avai on your server:

    "Avahi is a fully LGPL framework for Multicast DNS Service Discovery. It allows programs to publish and discover services and hosts running on a local network with no specific configuration. For example you can plug into a network and instantly find printers to print to, files to look at and people to talk to."

    I don't think I do

    That is interesting. I do not think I need that at this time. I will check the log files and see if it is still acting up. If it is, I will let you know so I can take steps to disable it or remove it. Thanks for the info. I will do some reading about that program.

    In a first setp, you just might want to stop the service with the script in /etc/init.d/. If you do not encounter any problems in the next days, then you might consider to deactivate or remove it permanently.

    I am still getting warnings in regards to avahi.
    HTML:
    May 10 08:21:11 server1 avahi-daemon[2567]: Found user 'avahi' (UID 70) and group 'avahi' (GI                                D 70).
    May 10 08:21:11 server1 avahi-daemon[2567]: Successfully dropped root privileges.
    May 10 08:21:11 server1 avahi-daemon[2567]: avahi-daemon 0.6.16 starting up.
    May 10 08:21:11 server1 avahi-daemon[2567]: WARNING: No NSS support for mDNS detected, consider installing nss-mdns!
    May 10 08:21:11 server1 avahi-daemon[2567]: Successfully called chroot().
    How do I remove avahi or install nss-mdns?
    P.S. I rethought it and did what you told me. I disabled the service. We will see what come about in the next day or two.
