why did resolv.conf get deleted

    hi all

    have been installing sipconfig3 on to ubuntu server 12.04. all fine sofar until i got to 12 Install Postfix, Dovecot, MySQL, phpMyAdmin, rkhunter, binutils.
    i found that i could not get the upgrades required. when i checked th e resolv.conf it had been deleted. WHY.

    i reset the file and the install started. so what went wrong

    The ispconfig installer does not delete the file /etc/resolv.conf, so if it was gone, then another software must have deleted it. I install these servers daily and I never had a case were resolv.conf was deleted, so you might just have typed in something wrong and deleted it accidently.

    Hi Till

    thanks for the reply about thecase of the deleted file. can't figure why it happened but everything is now fine.

    server has been up and running for 24 hrs now. abit slow in the login process. I will be updateing the processor and memory in the next couple of weeks then i might some questions about getting on the air.
