Is it by design that two different sites, domaina.com and domainb.com cannot have two users with the same username? I have two different domains and wanted to use the same user name for both but it would not let me?? I mean if I was a hosting provider and had two clients with different domain names and they wanted the same user names for email accounts they would not be able to....just wondering or am I doing something wrong??

On all servers usernames are unique for the whole server, thats why ISPconfig has a username prefix and it looks as if you disabled the username prefix. Please enable it again.

no it wont but new prefix will be used only for newly created users. it wont affect old users that were created without prefix.
