I just was wondering that. I mean, If one decides to have a utf8 mysql, why shouldn't ispconfig work out of the box with that? I ask this because I really don't know the reason behind this. Are there to few utf8 users out there?
It is more a problem with PHP, not mySQL. PHP does not support unicode very well, full unicode support shall be available with PHP6. I tested PHP with unicode and UTF-8 and I was not satisfied with the result.
