Hi All, I followed this fantastic HOWTO: http://www.howtoforge.com/mirroring_with_rsync I used cygwin as the mirror, so what I wanted to know is why is root prefered to run the backup? I notice in the comments that it might be to preserve file permissions. AFAIK there is no root account in cygwin (unless you make one). It seems to work ok although my crontab has not jumped into life yet. Sorry to ask a distro specific question but I guess other people out there may not want to use root.
