I will exentd my issue: i see xenserver 5.5 howto and : i have one server with 4 stata disk, i want to install xenserver5.5 but with this tuturial i realise that maybe its not the better idea, since it will install on my first sata disk , it have not (in the installer at least) a way to config the linux raid for my local storage (4 sata disk of 500gb) and then install over there. Iam rigth? or thereis other way to doit? thanks bye nico.-
I'm not sure if the XenServer installer lets you configure RAID, but you can do it afterwards from the command line.
yes but i want all install on the linux raid, and if i had installed on sda for example, i cant use sda on my for ej. raid 5, and also the installation have not redundant disk, so if sda fail all my server fail. So there are others ways to doit work? thks
You can set up RAID on a running system. This guide (although it's for Debian) should give you the idea: http://www.howtoforge.com/software-raid1-grub-boot-debian-etch
ok thanks, but thats posible using raid1 because i can copy the data from 1 disk to the other one, but i dont think that works with raid 5 or raid 10. i think about it and maybe i can use the intel fakeraid(bios), if the installer allow me to charge the driver, because intel have drivers for rhel 5.3 that the same that centos 5.3 that is the distro that use xenserver 5.5, iam rigth? anybody have done something like this? thaks and sorry about my english
ok, nobady try to so samething similar? all of you people use hardware raid? its so expensive to me that i think that a lot of people use linux raid, maybe i was wrong.
