    Hello,

I completed the howto on postfix-courier-mysql with amavis (Great HowTo:D ). My question is about the clamav installation. I get the follwoing error message whenever freshclam runs:

    Code:

I have checked out the clamav site and read about my options for upgrading. I am just really worried about breaking my install. I am not really sure how to proceed.

Question 1: Should I try to upgrade to the latest version 0.88? Is 8.4 the latest version to be officially released with Debian?

Question 2: is it better to compile from source or use a binary distribution? I see that there are some "unofficial" packages here:
    deb http://people.debian.org/˜sgran/debian sarge main
    deb-src http://people.debian.org/˜sgran/debian sarge main
what are the risks of using unofficial binaries?

Question 3: What is the safest way to go about upgrading.

Yes, you can try to upgrade. The official version coming with Sarge is 0.84, I believe.

I'd try the unofficial packages first. If they don't work (which I don't believe) you can still install from the sources.

    It worked

    Hey Falko,

I just wanted to say thank you for all of your help. I updated my ClamAV using the binaries and it worked great. All I had to fix after the install was to remove the "proxy:" statements from /etc/postfix/main.cf and the server is working great. You guys are the coolest:cool: .
