Fedora 11 issues with ISPConfig 3.0.1.5 Hello Falko, Since I change my server's O/S to F11, I find it strange that the server's status for all services: webserver, etc, showed all as OK. What is so strange is that, when I had the SMTP configured to courier it gave me an error message of server is offline. When I configured squirrelmail to use dovecot server, the smtp server went online. The same thing with myDNS. My myDNS service just stop working and went on line. I tried to restart it but it just gave me an error message and turned the server at the control panel offline. When I turned on the named (BIND 9 DNS), the server at the ISPConfig went online. I did a check and turned off named DNS, the server went offline. Are these two connected? Server's service showed all online: Web-Server: Online FTP-Server: Online SMTP-Server: Online POP3-Server: Online IMAP-Server: Online myDNS-Server: Online mySQL-Server: Online FTP showed online, but I get an error still in using ftp? Is there a way to check it? Courier will not work at all. I tried a manual installation (downloaded the latest version) and followed the advice but still it will not work. Another strange thing happened, used to be I cannot access the control panel outside the LAN network. So I turned off the firewall and disabled it and I was able to access it. But today, I cannot access it anymore after I did some yum updates? Do you know what's going on? Also, I have this problem with fail2ban: Unable to read /var/log/fail2ban.log And then lastly, I have this problem with ISPConfig log: /usr/local/bin/run-getmail.sh: Permission denied I already changed it too 755 under root's power? I hope you have some more to input to say. I am getting frustrated... Thanks.
Hi, fedora 11 is not supported for ISPConfig 3 as the fedora guys changed glibc in a incompatible way in fedora 11 and this results that software like courier can not be compiled anymore on fedora and without courier you can not install ispconfig. I recommend that you use a differnt linux distribution like debian. We will not support fedora 11 or newer anymore until they fixed the issues with their glibc so that very common software like courier can be compiled again on fedora. We too. But it seems to be common for fedora that they do changes which break other software and make their distribution incompatible to all other available distributions. A few years ago they did the same thing.
Fedora 11 Hello Till, Thanks for your response. You said that I need courier to install ISPConfig 3 with F11? But how come I had it installed in the server and I can access to it? It just gives me a lot of issues though. But if that is the case then I guess, I have to try other O/S. I hope the Fedora guys can fix the issues as soon as possible.
You can install ispconfig even without courier, but you will not have any working mailboxes then. So that ISPConfig is accessible does not mean that all system requiremenst are working. I recommend that you try debian. Debian is a very stable linux distribution for servers and it causes much less problems compared to other distributions especially when it comes to upgrades of the operating system.
Debian switch. Hello Till, Then I guess I will download Debian. I do have Centos (latest version) and I have problems installing ISPConfig 3 too. So I will definitely try Debian. Thanks again for your help.
