Assigning Static IP Address

I am using Fedora 8.
While installing i selected DHCP. Now when i try to assign Static IP the eth0 does not come up until i manuall issue the command:
#ifup eth0
what changes should i make so that eth0 will be up and running when the system is booted.

 

How exactly did you assign the static IP?
