okay everys seems to be working, now the problem is not to make things work but to keep everything working no matter what. what do you guys do to prepare for the unavoidable "meltdown". you know, hard disk failure, cpu meltdown, bad caps. do you have some sort of backup system ? maybe another computer which info is automaticly passed from primary machine to secondary machine maybe tape backup?? could people tell me about how they go about this in the real world ??
Have a look at these tutorials: http://www.howtoforge.com/howto_linux_systemimager http://www.howtoforge.com/dedicated_server_backup_restore_systemimager http://www.howtoforge.com/linux_rdiff_backup I do nightly (automated and incremental) backups with rdiff-backup, and from time to time I create a new image of the system with SystemImager.
