My cousin brother own a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop running Windows Vista and Ubuntu 9.04. He recently upgrade Vista to Windows 7 and now whenever he gonna start his laptop it goes directly to Windows 7. Wondering does any upgrade affect or delete the Grub and how does he get back Ubuntu. Well, he has Ubuntu Live CD, hope this CD will help to make the laptop run properly.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you want a dual-boot system, the right order is to first install Windows and then Linux. Windows always thinks it's the only OS on the hard drive and therefore deletes GRUB. You can try to get it back with the Live-CD. Start the installation again, the Ubuntu installer should see that this is an upgrade and not overwrite any personal files.
