Can't configure TLS for pureftpd

I'm following this perfect server guide:

I'm trying to setup pureftpd to use TLS but when I try to run:

sudo echo 1 > /etc/pure-ftpd/conf/TLS

I get this message:

-bash: /etc/pure-ftpd/conf/TLS: Permission denied

Any idea of what I should do to not get permission denied?

 

Solved it by first creating the file and then adding the content.
