I have looked at the different Perfect Setup documents. It seems like they don't implement CRAM-MD5 authentication for SMTP AUTH (Postfix) or IMAP (I need a Maildir compliant product like Courier) ?
Is this possible to configure, or is it considered unnecessary when you can use SSL/TLS ?

As far as i know it is nescesary to store the passwords unencrypted to use cram-md5 as authentication. The passwords for useraccounts in the howtos are stored in /etc/shadow and are encrypted irreversible with crypt so cram-md5 is not possible.

I think it is not nescessary if you use TLS.
