The default credentials 'howtoforge' / 'howtoforge' do not work on the initial login after the first boot. I've tried root and admin as well. I referred to this 'how-to' for the info:https://www.howtoforge.com/import_vmware_images/
Ubuntu does not allow a direct root login, so you have to login as administrator first and then become root with sudo. Shell Login: Username: administrator Password: howtoforge ISPConfig Login: Username: admin Password: "howtoforge" (or password "admin" as well, not 100% sure if I changed the default).
