    hi all,
i am currently using denyhosts for preventing attacks on my ssh port.
I noticed though that my mail.log is full of attempts to login to my mail server.
i was wondering.. i can i use denyhosts to block also mail.. or shall i use iptables to block mail access from outside?

    thanks and regards

    You could try fail2ban.

    hi,
    thanks.
can fail2ban and denyhosts run at the same time?
will be one overriding the other?

    thanks and regards

    daveb,
thanks for reply.. so u r actually suggesting that i'd keep denyhosts for ssh and use fail2ban for everything else (mail, ftp)?
and mayb after some time replace completely dh with f2b? coz it seems me little overhead to have 2 processes doing same thing?

    thanks and regards

I'd switch off Denyhosts and use fail2ban only.
