Dovecot : moving new mails received

Discussion in 'Server Operation' started by electronico_nc, Nov 12, 2018.

  1. Hi all,
Well after migration of an ISPConfig server, I choose to let websites on the old server and activate emails on the new one.
Badly, I forgot to desactivate emails domains (on old) and websites have sent emails delivered locally through dovecot.
Is there a solution to transfer only new (unread) mails from old server to new server ?
(can't use imapsync as I don't know the mailboxes passwords)
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

You can move mail files that are newer than the switchover date.

  3. Hello Taleman,
With an rsync like command ?

Rsync could be coaxed to copy files not yet on target.
I was thinking more of ls -t and cut and paste names of files to move. Or if there are lots of directories, a script could compare creation time to see which files to copy.
