What do you mean with unable to check your pop? Is the pop3 not running, do you get access denied, is everything working but the emails are not in the pop box?

    hi till,

    thanks for your support 1st...

well the pop3 service is running and listening on its default port 110, but when I got to check the e-mail on MS outlook the authernication dialogue re-appear { means either the username or the password is error } but i'm sure from the username and password that they are the right one.

what's really goin on? i've checked the Maildir folder on each user... no problem with tht!

    thx in advance Till :)

Have you send an email to this user, does it arrive at the maildir folder?

Please have a look at the mail log and syslog, which error appears when you try to fetch mails with outlook?

Dec 1 17:18:07 debian postfix/smtpd[9075]: lost connection after AUTH from unknown[192.168.1.161]

    This is ok.
I'm still guessing that you didn't enable the right option in Outlook. I don't have Outlook, but in a (German) Outlook Express the option is here:

Ok, saslauthd isn't running. Start it:
    Code:
    /etc/init.d/saslauthd start

Then I guess saslauthd still isn't running... Do you see it when you run
    Code:
    ps aux
    ?

I suggest that you have a close look at the saslauthd part of the Debian Sarge howto and try to correct your system configuration: http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_setup_debian_sarge_p4

I recommend that you use an SSH client like PuTTY (for Windows) so that you can copy and paste all the commands from the tutorial and avoid typos.
