No, thats part of the perfect setup guide and not the ispconfig 2 installer. For example ssh is enabled automatically on a fedora setup if you follow all the steps in the guide, so there is normally no need for a manual activation. Maybe the installation media is just not compatible as you mentioned above that it does not offered you the same install options then the installation from DVD.

Back to your email problem. Please create a new mailbox and post all lines that get added in the maillog file and in the file /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/ispconfig.log

I created a new email user in ISPConfig.
Here are the contents that were added to the /var/log/maillog file:
    Code:
Apr 7 23:00:40 pluto postfix/postfix-script[15327]: stopping the Postfix mail system
    Apr 7 23:00:40 pluto postfix/master[14859]: terminating on signal 15
Apr 7 23:00:41 pluto postfix/postfix-script[15409]: starting the Postfix mail system
    Apr 7 23:00:41 pluto postfix/master[15410]: daemon started -- version 2.7.3, configuration /etc/postfix

Here are the contents that were added to the /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/ispconfig.log file:
    Code:

I reformatted, installed the perfect server again, and installed ISPConfig. I have confirmed that after adding a user to ISPConfig, that user cannot log into the ISPConfig panel, nor can he check his email until an email has been sent to his account.

I then asked a friend with an extra computer to follow the same setup without any input from me and tested his results when he was done. His results are the same.

ISPConfig does NOT create a working email user account. The email account must be finished by sending an email to it outside of ISPConfig if you use the same perfect server setup that I mentioned in the earlier post.

If you use ISPConfig 2, then you must send an email first to a new account before you can fetch emails from it. ISPConfig 3 sends a welcome email automatically so that this extra step isn't needed.

Im using some ISPconfig2 installation on mandriva and dont have problem with that, mailbox can be used in maildir, mailbox structure is created instantly no mail follow is needed first. tested on MDK 2007 and MDK 2010. But realy dont know which part of system doing that. I using that as obviousness. When i add user i have maildir structure for him also.
