Forgotten Password; Broken Permissions

A little while back, I started a thread about how someone running 'chmod' on the /var/www directory ruined permissions [Link]. From there, it's been going downhill.

A fix was posted in the above linked thread. I am currently trying to fix it, and in the process, I have realized that the root mysql password for the server is not known. I know how to reset the root password, but I am wondering how this will affect the ISPConfig installation?

Or better yet: Is there any way to find out the root password using information stored in the ISPconfig files?

    Any help appreciated!

Changing the root password will not affect ISPconfig.

No. ISPConfig dos not store the root password.
