I have realized the perfect howto is smarter than I am. I skipped the step regarding adding a virtual ip address. I using Debian and ISPConfig. I want to add a virtual ip address so I can move my website off of the shared ip address on to it's own virtual ip address so a url redirect will work properly without giving me the shared ip address error page. The primary ip for the server is 192.168.1.10 I want to add 192.168.1.11 as a virtual ip After I do this: edit /etc/network/interfaces /etc/init.d/networking restart edit /etc/hosts What else do I have to do? Any help, suggestions, or links to appropriate thread appreciated
Eh? Use your primary IP. Local IP of the server. That virtual IP thing in tutorial is for if you have a second IP address/server. You are getting share IP server cause you haven't setup any domains or you haven't waited for a few hours for domain DNS's to refresh and affect your domain.
Add you new IP address under Management -> Server -> Settings -> IP List, and then in the ISP Manager, whenever you create a new web site, select the new IP address under IP Address on the Basis tab of the web site.
