Hi all, could anyone help with this? I have bought a domain name from dyndns, say, something.org. I know I can run wildcard stuff on that domain such as 123.something.org and 456.something.org ...etc.. But is it possible to create new domain names on my server (unregistered domains) such as www.unregistered.com and alias it to my domain. I've heard about Bind Chroot something and I have a hunch it does this stuff. Can anybody either tell me how to do it, or redirect me to some web article that handles it? I read O'Reilly's stuff on Bind and it's just all full of stuff that's not fit for a newbie like myself. Thanks in advance
Oh and by the way, I tried this on my server and it worked on the local network. I opened "network", and added some "www.fonydomain.com and added as an alias "mydomain.org" and it loads just fine. But I am behind a router and I have no idea if it will still show from outside the router. Can you see this? http://www.dabluemouse.com Because I can through the local area network. If you do, then it's working and all you have to do is disregard this post. Else, tell me how to do it so I can access it on the internet. Thanks again
No. You must always register a domain. If you want to run your own name servers, these articles might help: http://www.howtoforge.com/ispconfig_dns_godaddy http://www.howtoforge.com/ispconfig_dns_providerdomain_schlund http://www.howtoforge.com/traditional_dns_howto
