This is not necessarily an error but shows that someone tried logging in and specified the wrong pass.

You can empty the log file by doing using console redirection to empty the file.
For example like:

> logfilename


or in this case maybe

> mail.log

 

IS that you or a client of you? If not, it probably is (like Norman said) someone trying to break in.
