    Hi,

    I have a ispconfig server runing fine after follow the how to: The Perfect Server - Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex (Ubuntu 8.10) and after install ISPCONFIG + Squirrelmail all the virtual users can login succesfull using the virtual user as: [email protected] instead [email protected].

    Ok all is perfect... but I'd like test the open @mail version so I followed the how to: @Mail Webmail System On Your ISPConfig Server Within 10 Easy Steps. The squirrelmail is installed yet.

    I can login to atmail only with system users (webx_user) but if I test with virtual users I get: "imapd: LOGIN FAILED" into the mail log.

    I'll apreciate any tip you friends can shut me :).

    Regards,

    Ruben

    Please post the exact error message from the mail log. You will have to use the system user name and not the email address as login.

    Thanks Till by your reply,

    This is the error at the web interface:
    Server responded: -ERR Login failed

    And this is the mail log part:
    Dec 6 07:15:02 mail imapd: Connection, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]
    Dec 6 07:15:02 mail imapd: LOGIN FAILED, user=rmoran, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]
    Dec 6 07:15:07 mail imapd: Disconnected, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1], time=5
    Dec 6 07:15:07 mail imapd: Connection, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]
    Dec 6 07:15:07 mail imapd: LOGIN FAILED, [email protected], ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]
    Dec 6 07:15:12 mail imapd: Disconnected, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1], time=5

    As a comment: I can login squirrelmail using both real users and virtual users for others domains in the same server, I did install @mail just for one domain.

    And this is the log using the system user:
    Dec 6 07:27:23 mail imapd: Connection, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]
    Dec 6 07:27:23 mail imapd: LOGIN, user=web3_rmoran, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1], port=[45222], protocol=IMAP
    Dec 6 07:27:23 mail imapd: DISCONNECTED, user=web3_rmoran, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1], headers=0, body=0, rcvd=45, sent=381, time=0
    Dec 6 07:27:23 mail imapd: Connection, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]
    Dec 6 07:27:23 mail imapd: LOGIN, user=web3_rmoran, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1], port=[45223], protocol=IMAP
    Dec 6 07:27:24 mail imapd: DISCONNECTED, user=web3_rmoran, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1], headers=0, body=1336, rcvd=172, sent=2163, time=1

    So, I can login with virtual users at squirrelmail without errors.

    Thanks again by your comments,

    Ruben

    Looks as if you entered the wrong username. Usernames have the format web[ID]_username, so the username is something like web1_rmoran or similar.

    Squirrelmail is patched to support virtual users. You will have to use:

    web2_rmoran

    as username in all other webmail or email applications.
