I have been looking thru these forums for a while and just haven't nailed it. I have looked thru the tutorials and just haven't nailed it. So is there a definitive backup method with the matching restore method ? Maybe a should add a complete HOW-TO to go with it ? My preference is Debian 8, but anything to base a successful total approach wil do.
You can e.g. use this script: https://www.howtoforge.com/community/threads/ispconfig-3-back-res-a-backup-and-restore-script.41609/ There is no difference backup wise between a single and a multiserver install. A backup has to contain: /etc /usr/local/ispconfig /var/www (if its a web node) /var/vmail (if its a mail node) all MySQL databases.
