I have an older ISPCONFIG 2 server that will be coming offline soon and I know that email is not compatible with the new ISPCONFIG 3 box I plan to replace it with. After I replace the server I would like to still be able to get to the old mail. How can I setup a LAN ISPCOFIG 3 box to spoof the real IP of the old ISPCONFIG server? or better yet if I change the real IP of the old server to a LAN non-broadcast address then resolve with an ISPCONFIG 3 local server that should work right? How do I configure this? Should I: 1. Reconfigure my old ISPCONFIG 2 mail server for a non-broadcast address. 2. Setup an ISPCONFIG 3 box on a non-broadcast IP to resolve the old ISPCONFIG 2 server domain name to the new non-broadcast IP? That should work to get mail right? Providing that I am not also connected to the net where a real name is. Thanks in advance for any replies. Art
You can migrate all emails from ispconfig 2 to 3, so there is no incompatibility. ISPConfig 3 has a fallback mode for old stle usernames for some years now. You can either manually migrate the mail accounts and then copy over the maildirs or use the migration tool: http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64201&highlight=migration+tool&page=2 http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64201&highlight=migration+tool&page=3
