I used the second one (the one from howtoforge) last week for a client and it worked out of the box. Most likely there was a mistake by copying the files together to a .pem file. Check the ispserver.pem file that you created, it has to contain the key, the ssl cert and all intermediate certs (obne after another in the same file)
