And even the file does not exist. /etc/hosts has: 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 81.xxx.xxx.xxx mydomain.com 81.xxx.xxx.xxx www.mydomain.com where 81.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the external IP (static public IP) of the gateway.
aristoli.com I am trying to sort it out on my own because I would love to learn how ISPConfig works! ;-)
I'm getting this: Code: mh1:~# dig aristoli.com ; <<>> DiG 9.2.1 <<>> aristoli.com ;; global options: printcmd ;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached aristoli.com's authoritative name servers are not responding. Do you know which are the authoritative name servers for that domain?
The nameservers are: 81.216.65.12 ns1.aristoli.com (the latter defined in the Domain Control Panel of the Domain Registrar) 81.216.65.11 ns2.aristoli.com and the IP address is: 81.216.202.218 Thanks again, Falko for taking time.
The nameservers on 81.216.65.11 and 81.216.65.12 are working: Code: mh1:~# dig @81.216.65.11 google.de ; <<>> DiG 9.2.1 <<>> @81.216.65.11 google.de ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 58334 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 3, AUTHORITY: 4, ADDITIONAL: 3 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;google.de. I guess the problem is that your nameservers are in the same domain that they should resolve (ns1/ns2.aristoli.com <-> aristoli.com). It seems you need a glue record: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dns#Circular_dependencies_and_glue_records
