Sure, but its the same on any port, not specific to port 8080. E.g. the exact same happens when you access a domain on port 443 that is not in the cert of the vhost. And if your users use the wrong domain names then you likely have the wrong links or domains on your website or in your customer documentation as no user would change the domain in a link that you provide him for control panel access just to see that altering a link to a wrong domain delivers a SSL failure as to be expected.
