i am trying to find out how to modify or recover my initial login password? isn't it supposed to just be admin/admin .. it's not working and after searching these boards I can't find a fix for this simple problem ... spent almost 2 hours installing and now this?!

That's looks good, but I got this error when trying to login to mysql: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111 "Connection refused")
Are you able to login as root user with phpmyadmin? If yes, then reset the password trough phpmyadmin.
i went to http://my-ip/phpmyadmin entered root as user then my root password and got this: 2002 - Connection refused<br />The server is not responding (or the local server's socket is not correctly configured).
