Mail Issues - Can't even log in.

    I have installed ISPConfig and all seems to be working fine. I can access a site that i have created in ispconfig. I can log into the ispconfig as the site owner and have access to webmanager, webftp, tools.

    But when i try and log in to webmail via the tools or just staight domainname\webmail. I can't get in...

    i always get


    You cannot login with the username and password entered.

    Please check your username and password and try again.

    Back


    no matter what combination of user name i use.

    PLEASE HELP!!!

    well... i gess there was one combination of username i didn't try..

    [email protected]

    is that the only way you can log into webmail?

    under the co-domains, make another domain without the www in the host name. just leave it blank.
    Should do the trick!

    thanks for the quick response.. so it should look like this..

    IP Hostname Domain
    xx.xxx.xxx.xxx www.domain.com domain.com
    xx.xxx.xxx.xxx domain.com

    also...

    I was able to get logged in but and send an email to another gmail account that i have but i am assuming i missed something in configuration because i received the email at my gmail account and it is form [email protected] (Seriously @example.com)

    what did i do?

    here is the return messag i got when i tried to send a reply to the gmail message.

    it should be like so:

    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx www domain.com
    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx domain.com

    As far as your from field, check the webmail's preferences. I'm using the roundcube mail plugin so I'm not sure where to point you for the display name.

    after making your suggested i can get logged in with [email protected] (THANKS!)

    but know when i go to send an email i get the following when i press send.

    It was not possible to send this e-mail

    SMTP Error: could not connect to SMTP host server(s)

    what is the SMTP server you are using in your mail client?

    Please add x-xxx-xxx-xxx.static.stls.mo.charter.com at the end of /etc/postfix/local-host-names and restart Postfix.

    What's in /etc/postfix/main.cf and /etc/postfix/local-host-names?

    I have attached the main.cf file. (sorry i cut and pasted it from a ssh session into notpad so there may be a few duplicate lines.)

    and here is the local-host-names file. (by the way i have two of these.. one is local-host-names and the other is local-host-names~ am i supposted to have two?

    You missed to set a correct hostname as you setup ypur server. Please replace

    server1.example.com

    with the hostname of your server in the files:

    /etc/mailname and /etc/postfix/main.cf

    Then restart postfix:

    /etc/init.d/postfix restart

    falko... i gave up and reinstalled... before i was trying to do everything with out a domain name and just use an ip... i reinstalled everything and set it up with a domain name. appears to be work...

    Excepet for the domain that you set up ispconfig on How aer email address configure for that?

    so i have www.mydomainname.com and i want [email protected]... how do i do that?
