What is the exact error message? Maybe your system does not resolve the URL correctly.

You mistyped the comand to add the repository to your sources.list. The line in /etc/apt/sources.list is all lowercase:

Have you rebboted your server before you installed vzctl and vzquota?

    FC5 in openVZ

    Thanks for your posts till.

    I am on a labtop

I was thinking of this template (fedora-core-5-i386-default.tar.gz ) with OpenVZ .
with networking. Can i follow http://www.howtoforge.com/openvz_debian_vps_p2?

also i notice that when I boot into the server I see this message
    just before i logon
starting PCMCIA services error: falied to load pcmcia_core

 How is this related to Till's question?
You can try the FC5 template, but we haven't tested it yet.
If you don't have any PCMCIA cards in your laptop, you can ignore the error.

Till i did manage to sort out my problem thanks for your post and thanks to falko.

Although the FC5 has not been tested yet I may give it some consideration.
In the howto its FC4 minimal (what in this case is minimal?) and what would
the acual .gz file produce are we talking a base system?

IF my hostname is xstation would the line vzctl set 101 --hostname test101.mytest.org --save
    be
    vzctl set 101 xstation --save?

It's a minimal system with no services installed (except for SSH).

    Try it. :)

What i want to do in the OpenVZ is create a minimal or the default template of FC5 up to a point where I can get to the stage where I then can start to follow the
howto OF Perfect set up for FC5 but in OpenVZ.

Simply try it with the FC5 template.
