Greetings I have the 6.10 ispconfig godaddy setup, The nameservers ns1 and ns2.networkdatafarm.com are setup and resolving via external whois servers dig seems to resolve this ok both at local host per domain and at the ns level I have 3 domains one of which is mightywhale.com setup, these 3 domains resolve sporadically and not consistently, I have searched through the forums and have checked many of the settings you folks have kindly recommended to others but have not been able to easily resolve the issue as an aside the email works from outlook or from the domains very effectively but I cannot find any links to webmail and the / webmail address will not resolve Any thoughts would be appreciated
Please run the following command on your primary and secondary nameserver and post the output: dig @localhost mightywhale.com
Hi , output of dig as requested shows the following ; <<>> DiG 9.3.2 <<>> @localhost mightywhale.com ; (1 server found) ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 28292 ;; flags: qr aa rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 2, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;mightywhale.com. Looks like the problem is at ns1 and ns2.networkdatafarm.com (timeout's) Are you the owner of networkdatafarm.com?
Hi Edge Yes This boxes are setup as in the isp godaddy arrangement with 2 boxes on 2 seperate ip's networkdatafarm.com is set in godaddy as the resolving dns Your thoughts?
Well.. It does not work. ns1 and ns2.networkdatafarm.com can not be reached. http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=networkdatafarm.com As it can not be reached, the ns does not work for mightywhale.com http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=mightywhale.com Looks like you have set something wrong at godaddy for networkdatafarm.com, or you need to wait a bit longer for the dns to resolve. When did you create ns1 and ns2.networkdatafarm.com ?
Hi Last week theres been plenty of time, and it did resolve perfectly at one point or so i thought, I tested it from a remote computer and it resolved last week, Clearly i have altered something in the settings the name servers at godaddy are set to ns1 ns2.networkdatafarm.com for the domain networkdatafarm.com respectively and the host summary is also set to the same. I am assuming this is the correct settings. last altered on the 5th so lost of time to resolve, there must be an error on my part
Did you create a glue record? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dns#Circular_dependencies_and_glue_records
