hey, i was testing the mail functions and for some reason, roundcube can login just fine, show all emails in all folders but cant send e-mails... when i make a test e-mail and click on send. nothing happens... no error... no timeout... nothing... when i use a client like thunderbird, everything works just fine... it fiends the correct ports by itself and i can send e-mails and receive e-mails...i did check the config file with the server deatails and deafault host was on localhost and also smtp host...

Check the roundcube config file and ensure that the smtp server is set to "localhost" there. Beside that, check the apache error.log for php errors.

Where can i find the error log? i did found the access logs in /var/log/ispconfig/ but there no error logs in there... the only other place i know that has error logs is the www folders from the clients but as its not hosted by them, its not there i suppose

Your issue is not ispconfig related, it's a problem of the RoundCube package that belongs to the server os. The apache error log is /etc/apache2/error.log.

i looked... its not there...the whole error.log file is missing from that folder...

On Ubuntu you should find the apache errors in /var/log/apache2/error.log

now i found the logs... and i tried sending e new mail just now and there not even entries for today... also in the access.log there is no entry for the /webmail... could it be that its somewhere else? or does not everything get logged?

Did you access roundcube over the server hostname? If not, try the server hostname or ip address.

i tried internal ip and domain name, both wont work...maybe it could be something in the installation of roundcube... on another server where i had roundcube runnen (php download, nothing installed or something) the search function didn't work....so maybe it could be something similar?

what is the best way to reinstall roundcube so it will work with ispconfig again? the only "installs" of roundcube ive done was as website and just the php files...

i found the logs... there inside one of my domains... the error log has no enterys for today but the access los shows some promising info:

I reinstalled it and tested. results: (maybe the package isnt right?... it didnt redownload it...or something is wrong with the source but that would be not likely...

Roundcube has been reinstalled successfully according to the lines that you posted. The packages are cached, there is no need to download them again for reinstallation.

I installed many servers with roundcube but never had this case.

I think i found something strange... i removed roundcube with: "apt-get remove roundcube" and after that i used "locate roundcube" and it came up with:
    /var/lib/roundcube/
    /usr/share
    /var/logs/roundcube (error logs)
it seems that those locations both hold a version of roundcube... Both have different contect

To remove a package with apt completely, the command is:

    apt-get remove --purge roundcube

I tried removing roundcube the way i installed it, following this guide: https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial...-bind-postfix-doveot-and-ispconfig/3/#g0.0.21

    first i did:
    apt-get remove --purge roundcube roundcube-core roundcube-mysql roundcube-plugins roundcube-plugins-extra javascript-common libjs-jquery-mousewheel php-net-sieve tinymce

    and then:
    apt-get install roundcube --reinstall roundcube-core roundcube-mysql roundcube-plugins roundcube-plugins-extra javascript-common libjs-jquery-mousewheel php-net-sieve tinymce

and the few changes from the guide and still have the same problem... what am i missing here?
