Am running a SMTP rely with verified domain name, but most expert advices that, "you do not need smtp rely of smtp2go. since you have static ip the smtp works by default without using the external smtp rely." i think so the port 25 needs to be open first? isn't it? to make the mail work without using external smtp rely.

Port 25 must be open for any mail server that shall be able to send emails on its own, you asked about a static IP. You can request to open port 25 at Hetzner after you have paid your first invoice.

You should read hetzner docs or search the net, I'm not your free answer bot for Hetzner related questions.

And as soon as port 25 is open., does it require some setting like localhost, or keep it empty. upload_2024-7-29_16-52-42.png

Just keep it empty when you do not use a relay server. localhost as a relay server makes no sense; it would just try to send emails to itself, aka. loop.

i was thinking to create a new thread but then decided to ask here. @till
    - The question is regarding DKIM each time Mail Domain is created, But that DKIM record/entry doesn't seems there in the DNS zone, and neither it show up elsewhere. To make sure the DKIM works am using the DKIM green button in the DNS to create the dkim record.
Does that duplicates DKIM? That's my concern.

if it has to be done manually; Is there a option to add the dkim in the DNS default template that can be added? How it can be done in 1-go so i do not need to manually do DKIM for each domain (whenever added)

there was an issue with creating/enabling DKIM at the same time the email domain is created, i don't know if that's been fixed in one of the releases since then.
either way, as long as the email domain already exists, if you go to the email domain settings and click on the DKIM button and then 'generate dkim private-key' button, it'll create the selector, private key and dns record. if you are using ispconfig for dns, then it'll add the dkim records into the dns for you, if you're using an external service for dns, you'll need to copy the details in the dns record field in the email domain settings and create the dns record in whatever service you're using yourself.

that's ok, it only affected creating dkim keys at the same time it was still creating the email domain, as long as the email domain is created first and already exists. going back in and generating the dkim record afterwards should work without problems.

Also, the DKIm record can be added to the zone only if your ISPConfig server is the authoritative DNS server of that zone. If the DNS zone for the domain is managed at the domain registry where you registered the domain, then you must create the DKIM TXT record there manually, using the data that ISPConfig shows you on the email domain settings page.

Yes it works fine! i have also updated. now it is able to create the DKIM in the DNS as soon as the DKIM is generated using Mail Domain. Thanks :)

At this moment I'm using external smtp2go for rely. What is the recommended way to run a specific cURL on the each 'Mail Domain'. This way i will able to add Verified Domain name in smtp2go easily.

That's not a question about Hetzner,
I'm looking for advice on the best way to backup an entire ISPConfig3 server, including websites, emails, and other critical data. The goal is to have a backup solution that allows for quick disaster recovery, ideally one that can be restored on minimal effort. and budget friendly.

    I'm a Hetzner Cloud User

Then you should turn on Backups for your cloud instance in the Hetzner Cloud management console. This will create a backup of your cloud instance automatically every night and you can easily restore it within a few minutes and you can even restore it to a new cloud instance without overwriting the existing VM.

if you are looking for an alternative Linux backup, check out rustic or duplicity. But using the backup from Hetzner is likely faster and easier, so I would use restic or duplicity only as a secondary backup in case a restore from Hetzner backup fails for whatever reason or if you want to keep a second backup longer.

To get consistent backups from MySQL/MariaDB, you should consider dumping each database to SQL once a day. That way, the SQL dumps are included in your backup, too, and if you get issues with database inconsistencies, then you can use that dump.

    Also Borg?

You can use the builtin feature or dump them with a shall script.

Sure, you can use Borg as well. Or urBackup or write a shall script and use tar. This whole topic is not ISPConfig specific in any way, what you do is a normal backup of a Linux system and there are many solutions for that.

I was afraid that ISPConfig3 may not be compatible with additional volumes since it maintains a separate user directory for each client.
