When using port 587, the smtp_server needs tls:// in front of it. But if it is on the same host, using port 25 without encryption is fine.

The most recent logs show amavis was not running, so if you have resolved that, send a new message and post the current logs. I infer that only external mail fails, is that correct? (Ie. using roundcube you can email other local mailboxes and the mail is delivered?)
