[SOLVED] Jailkit chroot user deleted, / directory structure still there (and cannot delete it)

Discussion in 'General' started by Ignacio Garcia, Oct 14, 2018.

  1. Hi there. I created yesterday a shell user inside a jailkit root. Today I deleted it. I noticed that the root directory structure, that is bin, dev, usr, var, and others, created under /var/www/clients/client1/website.com are still here, yet that site does not have any shell user anymore. I even tried to delete them using the root account, without any luck.

    Am I missing something here?

    TIA

    Ignacio

  2. I just noticed there is a strange entry in my /etc/passwd file:
    web1:x:5004:5005::/var/www/clients/client1/web1/./home/web1:/usr/sbin/jk_chroots
    I've never created this user...

    That's intended, the jail does not get removed after it was created as programs may still need parts of it. Yiz can unlock the web root fir with chattr -i if you want to remove it manually after you verified that no parts of it are needed anymore. And the user from passwd file is the web user of that site.
