I am running ispconfig3 on wheezy w/ nginx

I can log in to the control panel via a browswer by putting the following into my address bar:

    mydomain1:8080
    mydomain2:8080

When I log in it appears that I am using the installation generated certificate because I get the secure connections

    https://mydomain1:8080/index.php#
    https://mydomain1:8080/index.php#

But even after adding nginx squirelmail and phpmyadmin directives per procedure I do not get SSL https when attempting to log in to webmail or phpmyadmin.

How do I make secure phpmyadmin and/or webmail connections?
There are a few tutorials on the subject, but which is the best to use?

    also

It appears that my email client is using TLS how do I know if ftp is using TLS too?

Did you setup SSL connection for your website in ISPConfig?

in the ISPC on the actual website data, tehre's a SSL tab where you can generate an own ssl cert or provide one.

And on the main website configuration page there's a ssl checkbox.
