Ubuntu 6.10 64-bit - USB mouse buttons freezing

    Dear all,

I have been trying to install Ubuntu 6.10 (64-bit) on my Dell Latitude D820. Everything is fine, except the mouse buttons (Microsoft IntelliMouse 2.0a - wireless in combination with MS wireless keyboard): the Mouse can navigate around, no problem, but the buttons freeze after few minutes and they do not come back to life no matter what. I have been forced to install OpenSuse 10.2 and the keyboard/mouse combination works perfectly.

The same situation arises in Ubuntu 6.10 if I use another USB mouse (wired).

Has anybody got any suggestions on how to get around this problem? On the Web it has been reported that Ubuntus have some problems with USB. Is that the case? Is there a workaround?

    Thanks and all the best,

    Stef

Not familiar with this specific case, but maybe you should try (wait?) for Feisty? I read Ubuntu has extended the amount of supported devices significantly. If you're in for testing, you could go for the Release Candidate 5. It's only a month before the final release comes out. :D

Thanks. I tried but installation failed. So the only option was 6.10.

I'd wait for the Feisty final release then. I think it's due April 19. :)

Thanks, I will. In the meantime I will soldier on with OpenSuSe
