What is the best Linux Distro for a complete beginner

I am wanting to learn Linux and the different commands and was hoping to get some direction as to which distro to download. Also if anyone knows of a good tutorial that is easy to understand.

Mainly Debian, Ubuntu and their derivatives are supported in here, so if you planned to learn from here, choose any of them as I think it would definitely make it easier for you in your quest.

 

Most tutorials here and elsewhere are using Debian/Ubuntu or CentOS as the distribution. If you want to try out Linux on a desktop then I would recommend Fedora or Ubuntu. However, there are also more interesting distributions, like Gentoo, Archlinux, OpenSuse etc, but if you are a beginner then I would recommend one of the big four distributions.
